Barcelona supporters throw objects at their own team bus outside the stadium ahead of tonight's game against PSG

Before Barcelona plays PSG in the Champions League, fans of Barcelona inadvertently throw objects at their own squad bus as they fight with police in chaotic circumstances outside the stadium.

On Tuesday night, there were violent scenes outside the Barcelona stadium.
Before the match, supporters of Barcelona threw things at their own squad bus.

Barcelona fans threw objects at their own team bus before the Champions League quarter-final second leg against PSG this evening.

Last week, the Catalan giants won the first leg 3-2 in Paris, and fans gathered early to greet their players as they entered the Olympic Stadium.

The route to Barcelona's temporary home, with the Nou Camp still being rebuilt, was lighted up with flares, creating a surreal scene as the two squads made their way to the site for tonight's game.

However, the smoke in the street may have caused some misunderstanding, as fans threw missiles at Barcelona's bus while signing 'P*** PSG' (F*** PSG).
Fans also sang about Kylian Mbappe, who appears to be PSG's danger man tonight, and despicably chanted 'death Vinicius' ahead of Sunday's El Clasico versus Real Madrid.

These Barcelona fans mistook the bus for one intended to target PSG players, but instead damaged their own team's vehicle.
Vinicius has faced racial abuse throughout his stay in Spain, and he burst into tears during a news conference last month when highlighting the issue.

Police were obliged to intervene to guarantee that spectators stayed back and busses could enter the stadium securely.

The police used batons to drive supporters back to the pavement and maintain the route clean.

Earlier, some 2,600 PSG fans, including roughly 400 so-called ultras, arrived for the game and were escorted by police up the Montjuic hill to the stadium two hours before kickoff.

A PSG fan was arrested at 5 p.m. local time for allegedly assaulting a Barcelona supporter.

The violent events did not appear to significantly delay either side, as their separate warm-ups began on schedule, and kick-off did not need to be pushed back.

Tuesday's encounter looks to be a pivotal night for Barcelona, who hope to reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in five years.

They reached the final four in 2019 after winning the first leg 3-0 against Liverpool, only for the Reds to stage a spectacular comeback at Anfield to score a famous 4-0 victory and go to the final.

Barcelona will want to erase such memories if they make it to the semi-finals again this season.

The team is also aiming to give manager and club legend Xavi a fitting farewell after he announced his departure at the conclusion of the season.

Meanwhile, PSG will look to move one step closer to collecting the title that has eluded them thus far.

In 2020, they were narrowly defeated in the final by Bayern Munich, 1-0.
