A frequent adulterer inquired on Reddit whether being a "Neuralink hamster" would help him overcome his incessant desire to be unfaithful to his spouse.

In an attempt to preserve his marriage, a Reddit user going by the handle Electronic-Camera277 expressed his hope that Elon Musk's Neuralink brain chip implant will help him overcome his constant adultery.

Even while sex addiction, or serial infidelity, is recognised as an illness, experts claim that therapy can help people overcome it. As a result, getting a brain chip implant might not be the best strategy for remaining faithful to your partner.

The company claimed that the gadget may be used to operate a computer or smartphone by just thinking about moving; no wires or actual movement are needed. It is made to interpret a person's cerebral activity.

However, healing someone's mental health—and especially their urge for infidelity—is not one of the Neuralink brain chip's many potential uses.

The Reddit member admitted to cheating on his wife "more times than I can count." He said he's received therapy for his sex addiction but that he still finds it difficult to give up.

"I'm so desperate I'm even considering Elon Musk's Neuralink implant to help treat addiction," he stated, citing his studies and consideration of alternative therapies as a result of this line of thinking.

Then he posed the question to the Reddit users, "Will my wife ever forgive me?" Shall I tell her? Would it be worthwhile for me to become a Neuralink hamster?

For years, Musk has bragged that his Neuralink brain chip would one day help treat treatment-resistant depression and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) by regulating people's hormones and emotional health.

The tech giant asserted in 2020 that the Neuralink chip can regulate mood and emotions and may even be utilised to cure addiction.

"Can Neuralink be used to retrain the part of the brain which is responsible for causing addiction or depression?" a Twitter user questioned Musk at the time. According to The Independent.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5), an American Psychiatric Association reference manual for mental diseases, does not include obsessive sexual behaviour.

According to Cleveland Clinic, the American Psychological Association (APA) rejected a proposal to add hypersexual disorder, or sex addiction, to the DSM-5 handbook, citing "a lack of evidence" and the possible repercussions of designating excessive sexual activity as a "pathology" (disease or disorder).

This idea appeared to be supported by Reddit users as well; one person wrote: "Every time you cheat on her, you are consciously choosing to do so."

You go out there, make new friends, take dates, set up locations, and conjure up lies to tell both your wife and the new people you're meeting.

While Electronic-Camera277 attempts to turn to Neuralink for assistance, echoing the issues that many others are having, the truth is that brain chip implants are not the solution and likely won't be for some time.
